"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it"
~Atticus
~Page 39
This means that even if a person is different and has different oppinions to not judge them.  They could of done and seen different things then me, so I can't just go around judging people until I really understand.
"No matter what anybody says to you, don't you let 'em get your goat.  Try fighting with your head for a change. . . it's a good one, even if it does resist learning."
~Atticus
~Page 101
To me this means that even when people say do mean things to me that i should not fight back and to just keep it to myself.
"This time we aren't fighting the Yankees,we're fighting our friends.  But remember this, no matter how bitter things get, they're still our friends and this is still our home."
~Atticus
~page 102
When I read this I thought that it means that when I get into a fight with my friends to just keep my head up, because they are still my friend, even though we got in a fight.
"When stalking one's prey, it is best to take one's time.  Say nothing, and sure as eggs he will become curious and emerge."
~page 110
Even when you don't say anything people can still come up with rumors.  Even though you know the truth sometimes it's best to just keep shut.
"I wanted you to see something about her--I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea the courage is a man with a gun in his hand.  It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.  You rarely win, but sometimes you do."
~Atticus
~page 149
This one means a lot to me because when I am feeling down and when I want nothing more then to give up because I know I am going to lose already is that I finish what I started, that way I can lose knowing I tried hard doing it.
"In that far-off sweet forever, just beyond the shining river."
~Zeebo
~Page 161
This reminds me of places that I have seen before.  Places where I was happy to be and places I would love to go back to.
"Atticus had said it was the polite thing to talk to people about what they were intersted in"
~page 205
People don't just want to talk about me, and I don't want to talk about just me, I want to get to know people better adn get to see sides of them that I have maybe never seen before.
"So it took an eight-year-old child to bring 'em to their senses, didn't it?' said Atticus. 'That provessomething--that a gang of wild animals can be stopped, simply because they're still human.  Hmp, maybe we need a police force of children...you children last night made Walter Cunningham stand in my shoes for a minute.  That was enough."
~Atticus
~page 210
This passage tells me that children did/do play a huge role in society.  We can change something huge by just doing one small thing; showing up.
"Which, gentlemen, we know is in itself a lie as black as Tom Robinson's skin, a lie I do not have to point out to you.  You know the truth, and the truth is this: some Negroes lie, some Negroes are immoral, some negro men are not to be trusted around women--black or white.  But this is a truth that applies to the human race and to no particular race of men.  There is not a person in this courtroom who has never told a lie, who has never done an immoralthing, and there is no man living who has never looked upon a women without desire."
~Atticus
~page 272
This passage just says that nobody is perfict even if you are white.  You can't just go around saying that just black people sin, because all people sin, and nobody is perfict.
"I'm no idealist to beleive firmily in the interfrity of our courts and in the jury system--that is no ideal to me, it is a living, working reality.  Gentlemen, a court is no better than each man of you sitting before me on this jury.  A court is only as sound as its jury, and a jury is only as sound as the men who make it up.  I am confident that you gentlemen will review without passion the evidence you have heard, come to a decision, and restore this defendant to his family.  In the name of God, do your duty."
~Atticus
~page 274
The court doesn't choose who is guilty, the jury does, and it is up to them to choose.  They choose what they think, wheather it is the right thing or the wrong thing.
"Dont fret Jem,  Things are never as bad as they seem."
~Miss Maudie
~Page 288
In the worst situtions there is always a reason to keep your head high adn just keep marching on.
"Attucus says you can choose your friends but you sho' can't choose your family, an' they're still kin to you no matter weather you acknowledge 'em or not, and it makes you look right silly when you don't."
~Jem
~page 300
You are always going to have a family weather you like it or not.  You should love them, and be happy that you have them, not hating them and never talking to them.
"Equal rights for all, special privileges for none."
~Scout
~page 328
Here in America everyone has equal rights.  If somebody super important got away with murder and nobody ever did anything about it and the government didn't care, that wouldnt be right at all.
